Assistant Chief Engineer

~ Engineering Department


The Position

Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for the on-going maintenance and develops, coordinates and monitors maintenance programs for all guest rooms, back of the house, public spaces and equipment to ensure the reliability, safety, and comfort of all guests and staff.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategies for achieving department goals
  • Develops plan for completing routine maintenance and renovations; coordinates work with hotel department managers
  • Creates a safe environment for guests and employees by ensuring that the hotel is maintained in accordance with safety standards
  • Evaluates forecasted business and projects and schedules staff accordingly

Position Requirements

Assistant Front Office Manager

The Position

The Assistant Front Office Manager is responsible for managing assigned shifts for front office staff and related departments by running the day-to-day operations and create an environment that is positive, supportive and teamwork-orientated.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensures that front desk handles billing and cash flow in accordance with hotel’s SOPs
  • Plans and coordinates hotel housing activities by working closely with sales, catering, housekeeping and other departments
  • Ensures seamless transition during shift changes by developing and implementing SOPs for shifts to communicate with one another
  • Greets all arriving VIPs, be always visible and in contact with guests in a public relations capacity. Logs any points of concern and promptly resolves/actions requests of guest as a priority. Conducts follow-up calls to ensure the guests expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Assists in all administrative and statistical analysis of department operations

Position Requirements

  • Minimum one year of experience as Assistant Front Office Manager or minimum two years as Senior Duty Manager in a leading luxury hotel chain
  • Strong computer systems skills including (but not limited to) reservations and reporting systems as well as Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to influence situations

Sales Manager (Rooms Sales)

The Position

As a Sales manager you will be responsible for developing and fostering business through pro-active direct sales, marketing, telemarketing, direct mail, appointment calls and tours of the hotel. This position is also expected to develop strategic action plans for hotels to drive measurable, incremental sales revenue.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Have a clear understanding of hotel business strategies and goals setting and to determine action plans to meet those goals
  • Conducts daily sales calls and arrange site inspection trips to the hotel for corporate clients
  • Provides the highest quality of service to the client at all times
  • Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (including generating proposal/contracts, corporate rate letter, customer correspondence, etc.)
  • Able to support hotels service and relationship strategy, driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience
  • Accompany sales team on sales calls to potential clients to assist in developing new accounts and accessing the effectiveness and sales skills of the sales person

Catering Sales Manager

The Position

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for assisting in achieving hotel catering and individual revenue, profit and customer satisfaction goals by seeking out, identifying and selling hotel group and catering business.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Performs outside sales calls to prospective catering clients/business to promote events facilities available at the hotel
  • Clarifies customer requirements and suggests alternative menus, themes, etc.
  • Prepares proposals for clients outlining details of the function and proposed solutions; coordinates preparation of estimates with food and beverage and other departments if needed
  • Negotiates sale of catering sales functions
  • Conducts on-site client inspections to illustrate available services, and has a fully understanding of meeting and sleeping room set-ups and capabilities
  • Monitors customer satisfaction with catering business; follows-up with key contacts on a regular basis to assess satisfaction

Graphic Designer

~ Sales & Marketing Department


The Position

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for all design requirements for The Chedi Mumbai. This person is responsible for the execution of all print and digital collaterals for sales and marketing, F&B, spa and other departments to ensure they are designed and delivered to agreed standards and deadlines from concept to completion.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Acts as guardian of The Chedi Mumbai brand
  • Designs point of sale collaterals from concept through to the finished product
  • Produces visualization, mock ups, artwork for road show collaterals
  • Creates design for online, print and promotional material from concept to production ready artwork
  • Utilises photography for marketing and sales collateral as per guidelines (photo retouching when needed)
  • Proofing of packaging (colour, standard and presentation) prior to print
  • Manages approvals of licensed artwork/images
  • Manages and maintains in–house image library
  • Maintains in-house CI/branding and collaterals
  • Works with marketing communications team to supply/create marketing material, both printed and online

Position Requirements

  • Degree in Graphic Design or relevant qualification with with a minimum of 3 years experience
  • Able to demonstrate a reasonable portfolio of past works (with good variety)
  • Able to demonstrate commercial awareness in the design to print process
  • Advance level in the use of design software e.g. Adobe Creative suite (illustrator, Photoshop and In-design) depending on the candidature’s expertise and software compatibility

  • Knowledge of design within the Hospitality/F&B industry will be preferable

Chef de Cuisine

The Position

The Chef de Cuisine for Banquets is responsible for managing and ensuring the smooth operations of the Banquet Kitchen for small to big events to exceed guest expectations by preparation of quality food and to achieve Banqueting targets.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Establishes and updates a pictorial library of plated food, buffet set-up, coffee breaks and themed events, based on standards.
  • Handles all guest and internal customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily.
  • Constantly evaluates local, national and international market trends, vendors and other hotel/restaurant operations to make sure that the hotel provides a culinary offer, which is both competitive and cutting edge.

Materials Manager

The Position

Materials Manager is responsible for supporting hotel operations by purchasing, receiving, handling and storing materials as well as controlling inventory. The position entails procuring the right merchandise at the right time and at the best available price, and ensuring the proper storage of all goods in pre-designated areas.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • To have a thorough knowledge of all items used for the hospitality industry
  • During pre-opening time, to be efficient in sourcing the best supplier for desired items and advising management about importation costs and time of deliveries
  • To constantly seek for competitive prices without sacrificing the desired quality standards
  • To ensure consistent supply of merchandise for various departments by keeping in mind the ‘lead time’ required for procurement
  • To ensure that store inventories do not exceed desired limits
  • To keep track of pro-forma invoices, dates of cheque submissions and keeping close liaison with accounts department for clearing documents in time
